Ten tips to help make your holiday greeting
a success!
There are few better places to generate good
will than with your organizations holiday or year-end greeting.
The holidays present an opportunity to reach out in a way that is
unique from the rest of the year. With some thought and planning,
you can make an impact, and maximize the impression your greeting
makes. From concept through budget and mail considerations, here
are ten tips:
Decide on a theme.
A theme such as peace, snow, charity, children, etc. will help set
the tone for your greeting. It will also help you to focus your
message and give the designer a good place to start.
Dont hide it.
Your greeting starts when the envelope is in the readers hand.
Make the most of it by carrying the design onto the envelope.
Make your card the envelope.
A custom die cut shape can turn your envelope
into a clever and interactive greeting.
Drop the envelope
altogether in favor of a postcard. This can be a very economical
way to reach a large list. And youll almost be guaranteed
your audience will see the greeting.
Think about colored paper. The
right design, bright colorful stock and one color printing can have
as much impact as an elaborate print job.
Avoid square shapes,
or other nonconforming sizes that will subject your
mailing to a surcharge. Postage can be a major expense if you have
a large mailing list. If the list is small, ignore this tip.
Merge purge.
Dont wait until your card is at the mailer to get your list
in order. Spend the time now to make it current. Be sure to consult
with your mailer about files and the format they need.
Plan your mailing. First
class is the fastest (and most expensive). If you are mailing bulk
rate, allow more time for your greeting to be delivered.
Go digital.
Expand your greeting on the web. Consider an electronic version
of your card to send by email.
Do it now!
It's time to get your designer on the phone. If youre planning
a custom holiday greeting, it should be in at the printer by Thanksgiving.
Havent thought about a holiday greeting? Its not too
latebut almost. Call us to see how we can make the most of
yours.
